42nd Soar Workshop

The University of Michigan Soar Group and Soar Technology, Inc. are pleased to announce the 42nd Soar Workshop will be held on May 24-25, 2022. This year attendees can choose to participate in the workshop either in-person or though a Zoom webinar. There is no charge to attend the 42nd Soar Workshop although registration is required. Overview

Each year, members of the Soar community – faculty, scientists, graduate students, technical staff and developers – gather together for several days of intensive interaction and exchange on Soar. The Soar community is widely distributed geographically, so these workshops provide an opportunity to have face-to-face conversations, learn about the current status of other participants’ research and get previews of what will happen in the future.  We will try to give as many members of the community as possible the opportunity to describe their research or discuss the Soar issues that are of concern to them. This means the time available per talk is quite short (typically either 5 or 15 minutes). Since workshop attendees are already entrenched in the Soar world, brief talks that concentrate on only the essentials work very well.

While the Soar Workshop is announced on the soar-cognitive-architecture mailing list, we want to ensure that everyone actively working with Soar is invited. If you know of anyone who should have been invited but did not receive an announcement, please let us know. Proceedings from the previous Soar workshops are available online at this page. 

Details

There is no charge to attend the 42nd Soar Workshop although registration is required. Click here to register.

The workshop will be held in room 1014 of the Herbert H. Dow building on north campus. On Tuesday, May 24th, the workshop will begin at 10 am and end at 5pm. On Wednesday, May 25th, the workshop will begin at 10 am and end at 1pm. Consistent with University of Michigan policy, in-person attendees are expected to wear masks.

The workshop format is presentations only – no formal papers. Please email a copy of your presentation(s) by May 25th, 2022 to this address, as we will be posting all presentations on the Soar website.

The workshop will also include two social events in the evening that all attendees are welcome to join. On May 24th, a group dinner will be hosted by Soar Technology at a restaurant TBD. There may also be an informal lunch gathering on May 25th, at John Laird’s home, if weather permits.
